With the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0, we seem to finally be seeing a name come out with major competition to the iPod touch. This is a Samsung's latest media player with a 5", 800 x 480 display and Android OS 2.3.5 Gingerbread. The Player sells for $269 right; that’s “£167.775 GBP” for the time being. 8GB of storage plus microSD card slot. It has WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and dual cameras and can make voIP calls but not cellular calls. Furthermore, a 4" model available as well.

However, there's already 8GB of on-board memory, so all that looks pretty good for £149 – £40 less than the 8GB iPod Touch. There's also a 16GB version for £179.
